HbbTV takes off in Poland

The number of homes in Poland with an active HbbTV connection has now passed 1.3 million. Speaking to Wirtualne Media, Jaroslaw Mroczkowski, the strategic advisor at the national transmission company Emitel, added that a milestone in HbbTV development took place in December 2018 with the launch of a service aimed at the supporters of the football club Legia Warsaw. This proved to be very popular among DTT viewers and caught the attention of broadcasters, who could see the potential of HbbTV. Emitel launched its first HbbTV service in 2016, since when they have been also introduced by the public broadcaster TVP and leading national commercial stations Polsat and TVN. Roku unveils Roku OS 12 with an emphasis on Live TV and Sports Roku has announced the next version of its smart TV OS. That’s Roku OS 12. Which has a focus on Live TV as well as Sports this time around. For Live TV, Roku is going to offer up local news. DAZN

DAZN launches women’s sports FAST channel DAZN RISE DAZN will launch a free, ad-supported streaming channel dedicated to women’s sports in Germany and Austria on March 16, 2023. The FAST channel DAZN RISE will initially be available on Samsung TV Plus and waipu.tv, with other platforms such as LG and Cliq to follow. The line-up will include live broadcasts and highlights, in football for example the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the French and Spanish first leagues, Division 1 Féminine and LaLiga Femenina, and from September 2023 the Women’s Bundesliga, as well as golf, handball, basketball, hockey and boxing. Zattoo launches FAST movie channel Netzkino TV streaming provider Zattoo has launched its first own FAST channel: Netzkino shows movies from the genres romance, comedy, action, thriller and horror. For the free, ad-supported streaming channel, Zattoo uses content from German provider Netzkino, a Plaion Pictures brand, that is already available in the on-demand area, to which more than 20 new titles are added every month. ESPN wants to create a sports hub – even including competitors ESPN is exploring the creation of a feature on its website and app that would link users directly to a live sporting event that is being streamed. The project is still in development, but CNBC reported that the Disney-owned sports broadcaster has already held conversations with major sports leagues and media partners to gauge their enthusiasm. LG integrates HD+ into smart TVs via HbbTV The buyers of LG smart TVs of the model year 2023 will be able to receive German DTH satellite TV platform HD+ without additional hardware. The South Korean TV manufacturer will integrate the HD+ TV app directly into the TV sets via the HbbTV Operator Application (HbbTV OpApp) for this purpose. A set-top box, CI+ module, smart card, TV key or other hardware will no longer be necessary for HD+ reception, only a satellite dish pointing to Astra (19.2° East). Google Fast Pair Coming To Chromebook “Soon” Google are boasting they’re finally bringing the Fast Pair feature to Chromebook, after delays integrating Bluetooth with ChromeOS – though they will only say it’s happening “soon”. The move will obviously make it easier to hook headphones up to Chromebooks, and then switch between devices, so if you’re hooked into an Android phone through Fast Pair they will be automatically detected by your Chromebook. TikTok limitera le temps d’écran des adolescents à 60 minutes par jour TikTok a annoncé une série de nouvelles fonctionnalités destinées à réduire le temps d’écran et à améliorer le bien-être de ses jeunes utilisateurs. TikTok fait confiance aux adolescents pour limiter le temps qu’ils passent sur la populaire application. Les comptes TikTok appartenant à des utilisateurs de moins de 18 ans verront leur temps d’écran quotidien automatiquement limité à 60 minutes dans une mise à jour que la société déploiera « dans les semaines à venir ».
