Addiction aux écrans : un concept qui fait toujours débat chez les scientifiques Peut-on réellement parler d'addiction aux écrans ? Le concept n'est pas officiellement reconnu par l'ensemble de la communauté scientifique. Strong growth for Asia Pacific OTT revenues

Asia Pacific OTT TV episodes and movie revenues are forecast to reach $52 billion in 2028. This, according to the latest report from Digital TV Research, will up by 56% from the $33 billion recorded in 2022. The report also says that from the $19 billion additional OTT revenues, China will add $4 billion, India $2 billion, South Korea $3 billion and Japan $4 billion. China will account for 38% of the region’s total revenues by 2028, down from 48% in 2022 as the other countries grow faster. Vionlabs, Plex partner to enhance streaming viewing experiences

Free global streaming media platform Plex has entered into a partnership with cognitive AI technology provider Vionlabs to enhance customers’ viewing experience with what it says will be a more accurate and intuitive UX. The partnership will see Vionlabs' technology integrated into Plex’s streaming service, delivering enhanced viewing experiences for 16 million monthly active users worldwide. it will see capability such as fingerprint embedding that can be utilised by data scientists to innovate around personalisation and content analysis. US consumer spending on video streaming services drops 25%

The amount spent by US consumers on video streaming services fell to $69 per month in 2022 from a high of $90 the previous year. The amount was identified in research from Parks Associates that showed the amount have fallen by 25% on the period between Q3 2022 and Q1 2021. DirecTV launches free Gemini streaming device based on Android TV

Just after it leaked earlier this week, DirecTV has officially launched its new “Gemini” streaming device based on Google’s Android TV. Available starting today, DirecTV is launching “Gemini,” a new streaming device that is built on top of Android TV OS and works with both DirecTV’s service as well as other streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, YouTube, and others. France Télévisions plans UHD Olympics

France Télévisions is planning to launch 4K broadcast service in time for the Paris Olympics in 2024. It’s anticipated the initial 4K versions of France 2 and France 3 will launch as early as September this year. Under the proposal France 2 would be broadcast entirely in 4K, broadcasting native UHD shows, and upscaling those that were not available in the format. France 3 would only broadcast in UHD for part of the time. France Télévisions plans a definition of 2160p at 50 frames per second, based on 10-bit encoding and HEVC compression. discovery+ added to Telia Play

Telia Play subscribers in Lithuania can now enjoy a slate of lifestyle, home, true crime, adventure, science and tech content on Discovery+. The Warner Bros. Discovery streamer has been added following a new agreement with Telia Play. Jamie Cooke, General Manager CEE, Baltics, Middle East, Mediterranean and Turkey at Warner Bros. Mixed picture for Asia Pacific pay-TV

Asia Pacific pay-TV revenues are forecast to reach $26 billion by 2028. This, according to the latest report from Digital TV Research, will $1.6 billion less than 2022. Pay-TV revenues will fall in 10 countries, including Japan (down by $889 million) and China (down by $309 million), between 2022 and 2028. Conversely, India will add $153 million. Commenting on the findings of the report, Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “IPTV revenues will overtake digital cable in 2023. iOS 16.5 code indicates quad-box Picture-in-Picture feature in development for Apple TV sports streams Picture-in-Picture has been a feature on Apple’s platforms for a few years, allowing a single video to pop out into a floating window while the user browses the rest of the OS. Czech pay-TV still lagging behind Slovakia

There are a third fewer viewers with pay-TV in the Czech Republic than in neighbouring Slovakia. According to Atmedia, while the figure in the former among those aged 15-69 stood at 57% in the second half of 2022, it was 95% in the latter.
