Pluto TV

Streaming : accord entre Pluto TV et Facilotab Le service de télévision en streaming gratuit Pluto TV (Paramount) a signé un partenariat avec Facilotab, expert des tablettes simplifiées pour les seniors et les personnes en situation de handicap. Le but de cet accord est d’intégrer gratuitement la plateforme de streaming dans toutes les nouvelles tablettes Facilotab pour offrir une source de divertissement à ses utilisateurs. Le partenariat bénéficiera également à tous les utilisateurs de l'application Facilotab, qui peut être installée à partir de Google Play sur toutes les tablettes Android. Ainsi, ils bénéficieront du contenu vidéo gratuit mis à disposition par Paramount.

Streaming services up spend on sports rights

Subscription OTT services’ spend on sports rights globally is forecast to reach $8.5 billion this year. According to a new report by Ampere Analysis, this will be a 64% increase on the total in 2022. The research also predicts that the share of spend on sports rights by streaming platforms will increase in 2023 to reach 21% of global sports rights investment, up from 13% in 2022. Quarterly fall in UK SVOD take-up

Newly released data from Barb’s Establishment Survey shows 19.42 million UK homes (67.7% of households) had access to a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in Q4 2022. This represents a decrease of -0.6% decrease from 19.54 million in Q3 2022. Netflix and NOW saw quarterly drops in the number of UK homes with access to their services. 17.15 million homes had access to Netflix in Q4 2022, down -0.7% from 17.27 million in Q3 2022. And 1.88 million homes had access to NOW in Q4 2022, a decline of -7.6% from 2.04 million in Q3 2022. Amazon Prime Video remained on a par, with 13.12 million homes in Q4 2022, a slight increase of +0.1% from 13.11 million in Q3 2022. [...]

Africa to gain 9m SVOD subs Africa is forecast to have 15.57 million paying SVOD subscriptions by 2028, up from 6.15 million at the end of last year. According to the latest report from Digital TV Research, SVOD penetration rates will remain low despite this fast growth, with only 7% of TV households paying for at least one subscription by 2028. Tubi sees 44% growth in total viewing time, surpasses 5BN streaming hours Tubi has released its annual audience report on the streaming industry, showing the explosive growth in connected TV (CTV) ad spend, while ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) services are leading the streaming pack as consumers look to cut subscription costs. DAZN completes acquisition of ELEVEN Group DAZN Group has confirmed the completion of its acquisition of the ELEVEN Group businesses and US-headquartered social media creative agency Team Whistle. DAZN says the acquisition will allow it to combine access to premium rights with a range of other products and services, including gaming, e-commerce and social experiences. DAZN will now add Belgium, Portugal and Taiwan to its countries of operation – it already offers local sports content in Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Canada, the United States and UK. SVOD viewers prefer watching new shows on subscription streaming over live TV Research from Aluma has revealed that if a programme is available simultaneously on both a subscription video on-demand (SVOD) streaming service and a live TV channel, adult SVOD viewers are more than twice as likely to prefer the former option. The study took place in December 2022 and surveyed 1,947 US adult broadband users who were charge of purchasing media services for their household and that watch SVOD services on TV. Sling TV unveils streaming service Sling TV has launched its FAST service Sling Freestream on what is its eighth birthday and National Cut the Cord Day. Freestream is available through the Sling app on all Roku devices, and is rolling out across Comcast, LG, Samsung, Vizio and Xbox devices, providing customers a no-barrier entry point to high-quality programming without any payment or credit card required. Viaplay

Viaplay sets North American launch dates Viaplay Group has announced that it will launch its streaming service on D2C basis in the US on February 22 and in Canada on March 7. Viewers in the two countries will be able to stream more than 1,500 hours of premium European content through the Viaplay app at launch, with at least one premiere to follow every week.
