Antenne Deutschland launches Germany’s first AI radio station

Radio broadcaster Antenne Deutschland has launched Germany’s first nationwide radio station powered by artificial intelligence (AI). An artificial voice called kAI acts as the host, guiding listeners through the pop and dance hits of the past 10 years and also informing them about AI technology, use cases, benefits and limitations. DVB-I shows promise for future television distribution in Germany

Germany’s DVB-I pilot is to enter a second phase, according to Christian Klöckner, Technology & Innovation Engineer at WDR, Cologne. As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the Pilot group published its conclusions at the end of May. In an article for EBU tech-i magazine, Klöckner said the earlier trial had identified a need for an organisation that would validate broadcaster lists according to the DVB-I standard and to provide regional updates. Zattoo adds three FAST Channels

Zattoo now offers the FAST Channels Heimatkino, Fabella and TemporaTV in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With the three additions, which are operated by Plaion Pictures, Zattoo is now distributing a total of 14 ad-financed, free linear streaming channels. Heimatkino shows emotional and entertaining movies from almost 100 years of German film history. Fabella focuses on love stories, dramas and comedies, while TemporaTV screens documentaries and reports on contemporary history. wedotv launches German sports channel

The AVOD and FAST Channel provider wedotv is expanding its channel portfolio with wedo sports, a free, ad-supported sports channel that will launch on streaming platforms across German-speaking countries on June 20, 2023. Initially, wedo sports will roll out on Zattoo, waipu.tv, LG Channels and Vidaa in Germany, with other platforms to follow soon. Vodafone Deutschland adds Apple TV+ to GigaTV

Apple’s streaming service Apple TV+ is now available on Vodafone Deutschland’s TV platform. The Apple TV+ app can be used on the cable receiver GigaTV Cable Box 2 as well as on the GigaTV Net Box, which brings television to the screen via the internet. “With Apple TV+, we are now integrating another first-class streaming service onto the GigaTV platform, offering movie lovers a broad variety of high-quality series and films. Folx Network adds music channels to Rakuten TV

Deutsche Telekom reaches over 12 mln customers with fibre in Germany…

Deutsche Telekom said that the number of customers opting for a fibre connections in Germany grew by 15.6 percent year-on-year in the first three months of 2023 to 12.23 million. The number of mobile customers rose by 3.9 percent to 56.06 million, including 24.03 million with a contract and 32.03 million prepaid customers. The number of customers with subscriptions for the fixed-line network declined by 0.7 percent to 17.34 million. Broadband customers increased to 14.78 million and TV customers were up by source telecompaper.com (pour les abonnés).
