Les séries HBO bientôt disponibles sur Netflix ?

Warner Bros.

Major global expansion for Canal+

Canal+ Group has formed a strategic partnership with PCCW to accelerate the growth of Viu, a leading pan-regional OTT video service with presence across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa. As a result of the transaction, Canal+ will become a significant minority shareholder in Viu through a staggered investment of $$300 million which includes an initial investment of $200 million resulting in Canal+ holding a 26.1% stake in Viu. In addition to the $300 million, a further investment, at Canal+ option, could result in an increase of Canal+’s stake in Viu to 51%. The two parties note that partnering with Canal+ as an important strategic investor is a recognition of Viu’s leading position in the video streaming markets spanning [...]

YouTube TV testing non-sport Multiview steams

YouTube TV introduced Multiview in March and is now surfacing new, non-sport-related split screen streams in the Home tab. The five brand new Multiview streams will be for news, (general) sports, business news, weather, and Deportes. The news use cases make the most sense, with weather being more or less having a background nature. They will be available to watch 24/7 rather than being temporary and event-based. This is an expansion beyond the original sporting use case, which started with March Madness and should appear in the “Top Picks for You” carousel. Multiview supports two streams side-by-side, three (two above and one below), or four in a 2×2 grid. You can switch audio/captions between streams, as well as enter fullscreen [...]

YouTube’s ‘1080p Premium’ with better bitrate starts showing up on Android and Google TV

One of the latest new features for YouTube Premium subscribers is a new 1080p tier with a better bitrate, and Google is now testing that feature with some users on Android and Google TV. Back in February, YouTube was spotted testing a new “1080p Premium” tier that was exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers. At the time, it was exclusive to iPhone and Apple TV. In April, Google officially announced the feature, explaining that it delivered 1080p content at a higher bitrate and that, yes, it was exclusive to Apple devices, but it would be coming to Android later on. Now, it seems Google is further testing support. Through the Android TV OS app for YouTube, the 1080p Premium tier was [...]
