3SS partners with TELUS for Android TV service

3 Screen Solutions (3SS) has entered into a partnership with Canada’s TELUS to launch a new generation Android TV entertainment service. The service offers over 400 channels, over 80,000 On Demand assets, and includes many popular third party streaming apps. Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video are pre-installed and deep-linked. Customers can also install their favourite streaming apps in Google Play Store. TELUS has chosen 3SS’ 3Ready Product Framework for its proven ability to provide a highly viewer-centric, customized UX. Telus taps 3SS to power next-gen TV service Leading Canadian communications technology company Telus has deployed a 3SS 3Ready-based technology platform to launch a next-generation super-aggregated entertainment service based on Android TV OS. The new entertainment service offers over 400 channels, over 80,000 on-demand assets, and includes popular third party streaming apps such as Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video are pre-installed and deep-linked. US pay-TV majors accelerate subs losses in 2022

The downward trajectory of the US pay-TV industry continues unabated with a study from Leichtman Research Group (LRG) showing that major providers lost about 5.88 million subscribers in 2022, about 1.2 million more than in the previous year. The leading pay-TV providers, representing about 92% of the market, now account for about 70.2 million subscribers – with the top seven cable companies having about 37.8 million video subscribers, other traditional pay-TV services having 24.1 million subscribers, and the top publicly reporting Internet-delivered (vMVPD) pay-TV services having 8.3 million subscribers. DAZN launches women’s sports FAST channel DAZN RISE DAZN will launch a free, ad-supported streaming channel dedicated to women’s sports in Germany and Austria on March 16, 2023. The FAST channel DAZN RISE will initially be available on Samsung TV Plus and waipu.tv, with other platforms such as LG and Cliq to follow. Zattoo launches FAST movie channel Netzkino TV streaming provider Zattoo has launched its first own FAST channel: Netzkino shows movies from the genres romance, comedy, action, thriller and horror. ESPN

ESPN wants to create a sports hub – even including competitors ESPN is exploring the creation of a feature on its website and app that would link users directly to a live sporting event that is being streamed. The project is still in development, but CNBC reported that the Disney-owned sports broadcaster has already held conversations with major sports leagues and media partners to gauge their enthusiasm.
