Connect Fibre adds Netgem-powered TV bundles

Looking to add further value to its gigabit connectivity bundles, UK altnet Connect Fibre has chosen TV-as-a-service provider Netgem to complement its full-fibre broadband service with video products based on Netgem’s streaming solutions for UK ISPs. Netgem 6July2023 Founded in 2019, the Cambridgeshire-based UK ISP Connect Fibre focuses on providing broadband offers at what it claims are “reasonable prices” to compete with fibre ISPs on the networks of Openreach, CityFibre or Virgin. The new TV service includes over 215 live channels including 100 channels in addition to Freeview - with 45+ channel dedicated to sport such as MBL.TV, The Rugby Network and Pop kids. DVB-I shows promise for future television distribution in Germany

Germany’s DVB-I pilot is to enter a second phase, according to Christian Klöckner, Technology & Innovation Engineer at WDR, Cologne. As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the Pilot group published its conclusions at the end of May. In an article for EBU tech-i magazine, Klöckner said the earlier trial had identified a need for an organisation that would validate broadcaster lists according to the DVB-I standard and to provide regional updates. In Germany this could be achieved through the public value lists provided by the German Media Authorities, but that was also a need to classify offers not included in the public value list. Zattoo adds three FAST Channels

Zattoo now offers the FAST Channels Heimatkino, Fabella and TemporaTV in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. With the three additions, which are operated by Plaion Pictures, Zattoo is now distributing a total of 14 ad-financed, free linear streaming channels. Heimatkino shows emotional and entertaining movies from almost 100 years of German film history. Fabella focuses on love stories, dramas and comedies, while TemporaTV screens documentaries and reports on contemporary history. The channels’ content can be paused at any time, restarted and watched on-demand.
